The crash happened on Highway 287 at Dillon Road in Lafayette. According to the Lafayette Police Department, five teenagers were driving south on Highway 287, when they struck intp a semi truck that was traveling east on Dillon Road.
The five teenagers were immediately taken to the hospital, where one of them was unfurtunately pronounced deceased. Later, one of the teens was released, the other three are still hospitalized. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
There’s a traffic light at the intersection, so as of the time of this writing, it is unclear whether one of the vehicles ran a red light. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and the family of the deceased.
