Fatal head on collision on Highway 34
A fatal head on collision happened on Highway 34 at mile marker 144, near Empire Reservoir, on Tuesday around 3:30 a.m.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the two vehicles involved were a 2008 Volkswagen sedan and a 2002 Honda minivan.
Unfortunately, both drivers died. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The collision caused Highwat 34 to close in both directions for aproximately 5 hours while the police investigated the crash.
Authorities also reported there might have been a fire involved in the crash, but no further details were not available.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.
